To ease the stress of the holiday season, you can set the table for your Thanksgiving feast several days before the big day. There are many important factors to consider when setting the table, such as the plate type, the size of the wine glass, and the serving utensils. Here are a few steps to set the perfect table for Thanksgiving.

Plates and Napkins

Before you start serving the food, carefully set down the plates. For the main course, use the largest plate and the salad plate on top of it. If you’re using fine china, make sure the plates are not placed on top of each other.

Prepare the table for the holiday season by assembling the necessary accessories. One of these is the cloth napkins, which can be used for a formal setting. You can either fold them in a classic rectangle or create a fun shape and place them under the serving plate.

Silverware

Before you start serving the food, make sure that you have the necessary utensils and accessories ready. One of the most essential factors that you should consider is the placement of the forks and knives. For instance, if you’re planning on serving an appetizer or a salad, the smaller fork should be placed on the outside portion of the plate, while the larger one should be placed close to the center.

The knife should be placed on the right side of the plate. The spoon should be placed next to it. If you’re serving soup, make sure that the spoon and the soup are placed next to each other. The serving accessories should be placed on the bottom of the plate for uniform symmetry.

Drinkware and Final Touches

It’s time to set the drinks. If you’re planning on serving wine at your dinner, make sure that the glasses are set at each table. You can also provide each guest with a complimentary glass of water. The drinkware should be placed above the spoon and knife and at the top of the table.

On the other side of the glasses, you can choose to have a bread, bowl plate, or butter knife. Whichever one you choose, make sure that it matches the style and color of your plates.
